The streets of Pune echoed with an unusual but fierce battle cry this week, as thousands of youth, students, and surprisingly, senior citizens, gathered under the banner of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP). Their demand was clear and singular: absolute accountability for the systemic failures in India's centralized examination systems.

A City of Students Reacts

Pune, often referred to as the 'Oxford of the East' due to its massive student population, proved to be fertile ground for the CJP's message. Protesters carried placards featuring the party's unofficial insect mascot, alongside sharp, satirical slogans directed at the National Testing Agency (NTA).

"We spend years preparing for these exams. Our parents spend their life savings. And in one afternoon, a paper leak destroys it all," said Anjali, a 19-year-old medical aspirant who attended the rally. "They call us pests? Fine. We will be the pests that force them to clean up this rotten house."

The Five-Point Manifesto During the Pune protest, regional coordinators unveiled a five-point education manifesto, heavily demanding transparency, independent audits of the NTA, and widespread changes to prevent future paper leaks.

The presence of elderly citizens alongside the youth highlighted the cross-generational frustration with the current state of employment and education. As one retired teacher noted, "The system is rotten. It's time the cockroaches fixed it."
