Cockroach Janta Party's Lucknow protest a massive dud? Only 0.007% of its followers at Eco Garden
Mainstream media outlets claim the CJP's Lucknow protest was a failure, but organizers say the numbers don't tell the whole story.
The much-anticipated Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) protest at Eco Garden in Lucknow has drawn sharp criticism from mainstream media outlets, with some declaring the event a "massive dud."
According to reports from Business Today and other networks, despite the party boasting an estimated 23 million followers nationwide across its digital platforms, only a fraction of a percent showed up at the physical venue.
Digital vs. Physical Mobilization
Critics were quick to point out that online "likes" do not necessarily translate into boots on the ground. "It is easy to click a follow button from an air-conditioned room," noted one television anchor. "It is entirely different to stand in the heat of Lucknow and protest."
However, CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke, who was present at the Lucknow rally, dismissed the criticism. Speaking to the crowd, he stated, "We are not afraid to ask questions. That is the biggest patriotism. The media wants to count heads in one park while ignoring the millions protesting from their living rooms, their dormitories, and their villages."
Strategic Turnout? CJP coordinators claim that the turnout was intentionally controlled to ensure a peaceful assembly and comply with strict police permissions granted for the Eco Garden venue, avoiding any excuse for a crackdown.
Whether the Lucknow event was a failure or a strategic demonstration of disciplined assembly depends entirely on who you ask. What remains clear is that the CJP's ability to command national media attention remains unparalleled for a student movement.
