Government's cyber safety handle issues high-priority alert as domains mimicking CJP's official site scam users into paying 'membership fees' and downloading spyware.

The Ministry of Home Affairs' cyber safety initiative 'Cyber Dost' issued a high-priority alert on Tuesday morning, warning citizens about at least 17 fraudulent websites impersonating the Cockroach Janta Party's official online presence.

According to the alert shared on X, scammers are using domain names such as 'cjp-registration[.]in', 'join-cockroachparty[.]org', and 'officialcockroachjanta[.]com' to trick users into paying fake 'membership fees' ranging from ₹99 to ₹499, and downloading malicious applications disguised as 'CJP membership cards.'

⚠️ ALERT: Multiple fraudulent domains in the name of 'Cockroach Janta Party' are active. These are NOT official. Do not pay any fees. Do not download any APK files. Report to cybercrime.gov.in.

Cyber Dost confirmed that at least 12 complaints have already been registered on the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal in the last 48 hours, with victims primarily aged 18 to 24 who believed they were registering for the movement.

Known Scam Domains (Partial List) ❌ cjp-registration.in | ❌ join-cockroachparty.org | ❌ officialcockroachjanta.com | ❌ cjpmembership.in | ❌ cockroacharmy.co | ❌ cjpindia.org.in | ❌ mainbhicockroach.com

Cybersecurity expert and TraceX Labs founder Rajesh Mehta told The Indian Express, 'This is a classic case of domain squatting combined with social engineering. The CJP brand has enormous organic reach but no official digital infrastructure yet. That vacuum is being exploited ruthlessly. We've identified at least four of these domains originating from a server based in Dubai, likely operated by a coordinated scam network.'

Abhijeet Dipke responded within hours, posting from his verified X handle: 'THERE IS NO OFFICIAL CJP APP. THERE IS NO MEMBERSHIP FEE. The only official website is cockroachjantaparty.org (no 'in' or 'co'). Do not pay anyone. Stay safe cockroaches.' The Ministry of Electronics and IT has reportedly initiated domain takedown requests, but experts warn new ones are appearing every few hours.
