'Cockroach Janata Party': A Movement Brewing; All You Need to Know

India is witnessing a quiet movement brewing. Led by the 'lazy' and the 'unemployed', this movement has already taken the shape of a political party, albeit a satirical one, with only digital presence, as of now!
The Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) was born out of a misinterpreted remark by the Chief Justice of India (CJI) Surya Kant. In over three days, it boasts of over 80,000 members with online presence on social media platforms and a full-fledged website, which lists its quirky, but quite plausible, five-point manifesto.
The chief justice was misquoted to have compared the unemployed youth to 'cockroaches' and 'parasites'. His remarks were, "There are youngsters like cockroaches, who don't get any employment or have any place in profession. Some of them become media, some of them become social media, RTI activists and other activists and they start attacking everyone."
However, it soon prompted backlash online with many users taking objection to the language used. Soon after, the Cockroach Janata Party emerged on social media as a satirical response to the remarks.
The CJI later clarified that his comments were against those who used fake degrees to enter noble professions like journalism and law.
ABHIJEET DIPKE: THE BRAIN BEHIND THE MOVEMENT
Abhijeet Dipke, a 30-year-old digital content creator, political commentator and a student at Boston University, has emerged as the man behind Cockroach Janata Party.
According to reports, he has previously worked with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) as a social media volunteer between 2020 and 2023.
In a satirical response, Dipke turned the CJI’s comments into a viral movement, creating the website as a platform to represent the “lazy, unemployed, and chronically online”. It has since received endorsements from prominent political figures such as Kirti Azad and Mahua Moitra.
